The KJV Lion - Dark Brown features the Authorized King James Version in a highly readable verse-by-verse Bible text in a double-column format. Combining an 11-point Milo typeface,line-matching, archaic words defined, and illustrations from Gustave Dore, this edition is the perfect tool for serious Bible students.
Well, this is my first "premium" bible, and overall, I must say it truly IS a beautiful Bible made with quality materials and care. HOWEVER!!!! I have some nits to pick. First, and this is the only mistake Humble Lamb actually made, I noticed quickly out of the box that the tail-band is glued in crooked; it wasn't fully inserted when it was glued in. But it's minor and only noticeable when inspecting the Bible. (this is why only 4 stars) Second is the goat skin. This is my first goat skin bible, and I understand there can be variation in goat skins, but I was hoping for something softer, more spongy? I was also hoping for a leather smell, but no luck. I have a Reformation Heritage study Bible in Dollaro leather and a Henry Morris study Bible in calfskin that both smell great. This one smells like glue. That's okay though. Last, and I've seen this mentioned on youtube, I have to agree the blue is so dark that it's difficult to distinguish between it and the black ink. I suspect HL will find the sweet spot sooner or later though. The good stuff? The paper is nice, the layout for the references and translator notes is excellent, the ribbon markers are good quality and nicely glued in and spaced, the color scheme and art gilding are very nicely done, the Gustave Dore engravings are beautiful, the lambskin, while not all I hoped for, is still very nice, the tooling on the spine is wonderful, the perimeter stitching is well executed, and it's bound very nicely. The more I handle it, the more I love it. Truly a wonderful Bible. Suggestions? Maybe a little more yap. Softer more leathery-smelling leather if that's even a thing? More Gustave Dore engravings if that's even possible. I researched and saw that there was one with ~141 Dore engravings in it? One more compliment, I love that it says, "The Word of God" on the spine. Nice touch.
Love it and I wouldn’t hate it if there were more art and bigger drop caps.
I really enjoy the references, has a really nice concordance in the back , as a kid I remember seeing some illustrations in a bible ( I’m 48) and I haven’t never had one with illustration it does bring something to the story . I love the leather cover , the carful stitching and the gold gilded edges which from a angle looks as if it’s green awesome awesome job, craftsmanship you took your time and it shows .Thank you
I absolutely adore my new Bible! I had actually been eyeballing a different color scheme in the KJV paste down Bible. But the brown leather with the green under gold art gilt was on sale, so I decided to purchase this one instead. I am so glad I did! I must say I was a little worried that I would not be loving the color scheme since it is nothing I would normally go for, but I am so very glad I did. It is stunning! Humble Lamb makes such a beautiful Bible. Job well done, bravo, Humble Lamb!
I have several Bibles including high-end, expensive Bibles and simply-bound translations. I have found myself returning more and more to my Humble Lamb Bible for it's clarity, ease of use, beauty and layout. This is a great Bible! It's becoming one of my favorites quickly; perhaps my favorite!
