The KJV Lion - Blue features the Authorized King James Version in a highly readable verse-by-verse Bible text in a double-column format. Combining an 11-point Milo typeface,line-matching, archaic words defined, and illustrations from Gustave Dore, this edition is the perfect tool for serious Bible students.
I’ve only had it a couple of hours and here are some initial impressions. Likes: the goat leather cover is nice. KJV word definitions directly on each page is great. As someone who grew up Catholic and whose first Bible once saved was the old 84 NIV I appreciate that added touch. Print is highly readable (see below). Less than likes: Synthetic inner lining detracts from the appearance of quality. Mine had some minor creases and the liner is very stiff. I am hoping that with use that changes. The blue print, while nice in concept, just doesn’t work. It is difficult to tell the difference between the black and blue text in normal lighting. The examples on the web site were much more distinguishable. For future editions I’d suggest you either go with just black letter text or something that contrasts a lot more. I don’t regret the purchase and it is nice to support a small business. Will it be my everyday Bible? Not sure. I do look forward to the return of the edge lined version and the NKJV, hopefully soon.
